THE GRAND ANNUAL SHOW Under the Auspices and Directions ol the WAIBARAPA & EAST COAST PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY Will be held on the SOCIETY’S SHOW GROUNDS, CARTERTON. ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1886. THE SHOW Will include Horses, Cattle. Sheep, Pige» Implements, Farm and Hairy Produce. Vehicles and Industrial Exhibits. The Society will,« in previous years, offer about lift? Gold and Silver Medals, as well as cash prises in eacn of the above stated sections of Exhibits, and in addition hereto a large number of Valuable Special Prises in cash and in plate have been promised, bringing the total amount Tolly up to the average of the last three Winners of medals will have the option cf taking in lieu thereof £1 cash for Silver Medals, and SSt xor Gold Medals. A Leaping Match, a Shearing Match, and a trial of Sheep Hogs will take place daring the afternoon. Programmes and Prize Lists giving fall information as to conditions of entry, regulations of judging and and all other details, are now being prepared, and will be published and circulated shortly. Arrange* mente will be made to run SPECIAL TRAINS At reduced rates, also to have the Show Day Proclaimed a Bank and General Holiday throughout the Valley, Intending Exhibitors are informed that entries close on SATURDAY, the 23rd October, 18W, at Noon, either at the Secretary's Office, Carterton, or at the offices of Messrs R. Brown and Co, Maaterton, F. H. Wood, and Co, Greytown, and J. D. Oakly, Featheraton, and that no entries can be received after that date. All oo m muni cations in reference to the Show addressed to the Secretary at Carterton, either by letter or telegram, will be promptly attended to. The well-known Clydesdale Stallion Prince Hoyal was bred by Mr U. McQueen, Smeaton. Victoria, and was imported by his reoeat owner, Ur John McKellar, Doylestown, Canterbury. Prince Koyal is by Prince Charlie, who was imported by Messrs J. and M. Mclntosh from Scotland, where he gained 7 first prizes—his dam Blossom by Bothwell was also imported from Scotland. Prince Koyal ia a rich brown color, stands 16 hands and 3 inches, showing great symmetry of form, with plenty of bone and hair of the best fashion. Prince Royal commenced bis career as a prize taker at two years old, securing second place at Ballarat, and 2nd at Smeaton, where he was only beaten by Darwin——the winner of the Sires’ Produce Stue of £6O. Since his arrival in this colony he has always been a prize-taker in every show yard where he has been entered. At the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Metropolitan Show of 1860, he was awarded the Association medal and! thefPresident’s Cup as the best draught stallion on the ground. His stock are now beginning to speak for themselves, notably Mr Stoddart's colt Lord Raglan, who took first prize as a three-year-old at Christchurch last year ; Mr Focook's Prince Victor; Mr J. Bong’s Koyal Prince ; and Mr Todd’s colt Kevin, all prise takers—together with a numerous progeny of promising youngsters—many of which bid fiur to don the blue at no distant date, Terms—£4 ;£2 payable in January 1887, and £2 whenthe mare proves in loal Two or more mares as per agreement For particulars see cards, J.
