Taratahi -Carterton Hoad Board.

The nsnal monthly meeting was held at the Doird’s office on Saturday. Present Messrs 13. Hoys (chairman), J. Bayner, E. W. D"isct, W. Booth, H. R. Bunny, and N. Grace, VV. Parker, K. Braithwaite, and Jas Stevens;

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Correspondence was read ; From W Ridgway, re Gully Road

The Chairman explained that the matter had been settled.

From Messrs Reynolds and Skey, re Reynold’s Road. Lett in the hands of the Warden to report at the next meeting. From James Hodder, re a culvert on Dale* field Road. Left to the Warden to see to. From P Carr, asking for extension of time to complete his contract. Granted. From Carterton Town Board re purchasing a gravel pit from Mr H Mason. The terms were acceded to.

From J Gorman, asking (or a rise in wages. Not acceded to. Proposed by Messrs W Booth, seconded by Mr H Braithwaite, “ That this Board adopt the Local Bodies Loan Act.” Carried. Mr B P Perry waited on the Board in reference to the road which he is willing to allow (to go through his property, and the matter was amicably settled. '

Mr Price waited on the Board in reference to a tramway to his mill at the West Taratahi, and was informed that he must submit to certain specifications to the Board before they were empowered to grant his request, and in respect to the other matters, the Board promised to give him what assistance they could. The Clerk was authorised to make an application to the Colonial Treasurer for tire reversion ol the loans under the “ Roads and Bridges Construction Act, 1832,” to the 11 Local Bodies Loan Act, 1886.”

Moved by Mrß R Bunny, seconded by Mr J Rayuer, that this Board bold a special meeting on the 16tb instant for the purpose of ascertaining what amount of loans to apply for. Carried. And that the matter of the two applications which were now before the Board be held over till the next meeting. This concluded the business.
