After all, Mr Wardell is to remain in Wellington as Resident Magistrate, and the Wairarapa is to get Mr Spencer Yon Sturmer, late B.M. at Hokianga, as a successor to Mr Stratford. We really don’t understand the game of limble Rig which has been played in this shifting about of Resident Magistrates. If Mr Wardell is going, after all, to be B.M. at Wellington, why did he ask to be transferred to the Wairarapa ? If Mr Wardell some time back found the duties at Wellington too heavy for him, he will pretty soon undergo an exactly similar experience. We have heard good accounts of Mr Spencer Von Sturmer who is to be our new R.M. Either he or his brother was some years back editor of the New Zealand Herald, at the time when Mr W. C. Wilson was its proprietor.
