Board of Education.

The monthly meeting of the Board of Education waa held on Wednesday, and wa* attended by Mr J B Blair (chairman), Toang, Newman,Mean* Bnnny, Buchanan, Beetbam, Brown, and the Bex J Patterson. The Belvldere Committee applied for the erection of a door between the claaa room*. The application was granted.

A letter was read from the Uaaterton Committee, enclosing a resolution to the effect that they “ regretted the unjust and evasive refusal of '.he Board to discuss a question of importance to a large number af children in Masterton.” The letter stated that Mr Boddington, the Chairman of the Committee desired his vote to be recorded against the resolution. The Board considered they were not to blame in the matter, and it waa decided that the Chairman should write to the Committee to that effect, also pointing ont that there are other districts which are more urgently iu need of f jct school accommodation.

The Matarawa Committee wrote, asking the Board to effect certain additions and improvements to the aohoolhouae, and grant a sum of money to Miss Forbes for taking the place of the regular teacher daring the latter’s absence. The Board decided to grant £4 for repairs and allow the application respecting Miss Forbes to stand over until next meeting.

The Board decided to authorise the sicking oI a well in the Waihenga sehoolgronnd. An application for a vote of £5 for erecting a porch at the Cross Creek Soho ol was granted.

The Glarevills Committee applied for a supply of dual desks. The Board resolved that a master's desk should b« supplied at once, and that at a future date the other furniture should be provided.

Mr T. Wakelin, ef the Eaitara School, asked to be allowed the nse ol the ground which formed the site of the old residence. The application was granted. The Masterton Committee applied for a cupboard and an easel. It was decided to ask the Committee to furnish an estimate of the cost. With reference to the establishment ol a school at Mangaone, the Board reached that if a site is secnred a sofaoolbonse will be erected as soon as funds permit.—Post.
