Wool, Wheat, and Frozen Meat.
The latest cable message from London shows that since the close of the last wool sales there has been considerable business by priyate treaty at an average advance of 10 per cent, on last sales closing rates, except for flue crossbred, which has advanced fd per lb, and coarse crossbred, for which the market is unchanged. The wheat market in London has an upward tendency. The United Kingdom harvest is deficient alike in quantity and quality. Victorian wheat is worth 35s fid per 4961bs ; New Zealand average quality, 33* fid ; New Zealand longbetried, 25s ; New Zealand f.a.q. is worth c.i.f. off coast, per 4Bolbs. The news with respect to the market for frozen meat is not so satisfactory. The market is depressed. Stocks are in excess of trade requirements- New Zealand mutton, weighing from 65 to 701b per carcase, is worth 4fd per lb. It is to be hoped that the depression in the price of frozen meat is only temporary. It is satisfactory to note that intelligence has been received by the Dunedin agents of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Shipping Company that after the completion of contracts by May next the Company will only charge Ifd per lb lor the freight of frozen meat by their steamers.
