A ease of stabbing csoarred at Christchurch ob Sunday night, in which the perpetrator was George Brown, a lodgingbouse-keeper, and the sufferer a young man named Thomas M’ Mahon. It appears that Brown bad been the worse for liquor all day, and quarrelled with U Mahon iu the evening. As the young man was going into the diningroom. Brown (tubed at him with an open packet knife. M‘Mabon knocked down hie assailant, but ba rose and stabbed IT Mahon on the left hip. Brown wee overpowered, aud subsequently amated on a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily barm.
