Liberation of Mr Freebody.

John Preebody has been liberated by the direction of His Excellency the Governor. Ministers could not make np their minds to tender any advice on the subject as to what should be done in tlie esse of Mr Preebody, but His Excellency, acting on his own strong sense of right and justice, has set the man at large. Every Wairarapa settler will rejoice at the just and timely action of His Excellency in this matter. There is no doubt that Mr Preebody was made the victim of hostile circumstances, and that he was really innocent of the offence laid to his charge. We congratulate Mr Preebody on his liberation from undeserved punishment and trust that bis future career will have a fair portion of sunshine and prosperity. We did our level best to secure Mr Preebody’s liberation, and we are naturally gratified that such a result has now been accomplished.
