O’Donnell, the well known explorer (says the Melbourne Argus), writing from Cambridge Gulf on March 20, to a friend iu Melbourne, says“ I am glad to say that some men have just arrived here from the new diggings, and report most encouragingly of it. There are some 68 or 70 persons on the field, and all are getting good gold. Those who are here have shown me the “ stuff,” It is splendid coarse gold—two pieces of it weighing nearly 12dwt. These men had to come down for supplies, and they start back again to-morrow with us. They got 28oa in a few days, and never stopped more than two nights in one camp. This Cambridge Gulf is a grand harbour, and ere long will be a place of great importance. There are two stores here already, and more coming. Our Government Ftesident, Customs office, police, Ac., are daily expected from Perth. We go from there straight to the diggings to which place I am going to try and open a short cut through the ranges. Provisions are very high here, but fortunately we brought large supplies with us. and so are prepared lor a 12 month’s trip,” Latest kimbeeley news, MINERS STUCK UP AT PORT DERBY. Melbourne, Jane 18.
