Old Soldiers.

- -♦ To the Editor of the Standard. Sis,—l notice in your valuable publication that lb* question of a grant of land to men who have served in the Colonial foreea is again being mentioned. Should tbe House see fit to recognise tbe claims, I trust those men who served the colony in the Imperial service will not be oreilooked. It was, I consider, a shabby thing for tbe Provincial Government to do, just when a large nnmoer were leaving the regiments to remain in the colony, to find that only two provinces were granting land 10 any discharged soldiers (Auckland and Taranaki). Soldiers were always nnder tbe impression that if they elected to remain in a British colony they would, if bearing good characters, receive a grant in proportion to the rank held on discharge. I hope, therefore. when the House is dealing with the question, that those who did good service (or the colony will not be ignored. I am, Ac., Owe ov Them.
