Frightful Accident at Carterton.

A MAN’S HEAD SMASHED AT BOOTH S SAWMILL. It is reported that a man named George Sewell met with an awful accident at Booth’s sawmill yesterday. Deceased was married with a grown up family. The accident happened through the falling of a heavy log. He was breakiog-down man and bad one log on the skids, and was rolling the other up when the dogs gave way and jammed his head between the two heavy logs completely smashing his head into pulp. The accident happened between 1 and 2 o'clock in the alternoon. The body is now lying at Mr DeLacy’s bouse at the mill at the rear of Mr Eagle's store. The inquest will be held before Dr Spratt, at 2 p.m. to-day, at the Taratahi hotel.
