East and West Coast Railway.
SWDICATE PREPARED TO TAKE THE CONTRACT The Colonial Treasurer has received from the AgentGeneral a telegram to the effect that he hat been informed that a quarter of a million sterling having being subscribed, the East and West Coast syndicate are now ready to take the contract. For some days past the syndicate having discussed various matters with the Agent-Oeuoral, having , intimated that they would obtain specific subscriptions, snd would than state If they were willing to proceed. It appears that, satisfied with the amount raised aa a preliminary subscription, they have intimated their wiliingnesa to take the business. The syndicate comprises very wealthy and powerful men. We understand that there are no important alterations in the original conditions, and no extra concessions of land have been made. -Pott,
