A leaking boiler tube extinguished tbe engine fire when the evening train from Wellington was near Matarawa on Wednesday night. A trolly was sent to Woodside tor an engine, but it was found that an order must be obtained from Wellington before such a boon could be supplied. The trolly then went down to Featberston and a telegram was sent to Wellington. A reply was sent to Masterton and an engine ran down from thence. Tbe Masterton passengers got home by 1 o’clock in the morning.
