Totalisator Gambling.
Some people talk of “ hard times,” and declare “ that there is no money in the country.” Tet at the Hutt Races a sum of L 13.767 was put through the totalisator. Of course a good deal of the same money was put through the machine more than once, but still the total comes up to a very big figure. There must have been a very large number of investors, and pound notes must have been tolerably plentiful amongst them.
