The first day’s racing of this Club took place on Friday last at the Hutt. The weather was fine, and about 3000 were on the course. The Telegraph Slakes was won by Maligner, Miss Dargon 2, Marion 3- Welter Handicap, |of a mile—Leon 1, Trickster 2, Silence 3. Time Ira. 17secs. Hurdle Handicap—Secretary 1, The Druid 2, Orient 3. Wellington Cup—Nelson 1, Waitiri 2, Pasha 3. Lady Emma, Grand Duke and Speulation came next in order. Time 3min 36|aecs. Won by three quarters of a length. Dir. inside £2 shares, £2 13s; outside £1 9s. Stewards' Handioap, | of a mile—Trickster 1, Rumour 2, Salvage 3. Div. inside, £l6 15s ; outside £ll ss. Time Imin 17secs. The total amount passed through the toCalisator to-day was. close upon £7OOO. With the exception of one race (the Stewards’ Handicap) all the hot favorites won.
