Featherston School Committee.

The Committee of the Featherston .School met on Monday evening to receive reports and settlefaoconnte in connection with the annual picnic. Mr Henry Bunny in the chair. Subscriptions amounting to £Bl Its were reported, and coconuts to the amount of £3O 8s were passed for payment as follows W. H. Speak, man, £3 17s; W. Burt, £5 3s 7d ; J. D. Cox, £3 Its 2d; P. Hodder, 8s; School prixes, £6 16s; Soiree expenses, £1 7s lid. It was resolved that tbe balance be deposited in the Post Office Saving’s Bank to credit of school picnic account, iu the name of the Chairman of School Committee as trustee Several suggestion! for future considers' ion were made by the Provision Committee in their report and which it was thought would greatly assist in equalizing the work in connec. tion with so large a gathering as that on the 22nd inst. The number present was variously estimated at from 800 to 800, and judging from the quantity of provisions bought and given, fully 800 persons must have been on the ground. Special votes of thanks were passed to those who had so willingly assisted in making the affair a success, and the valuable assistance rendered by the ladies was specially recognised, in fact it was felt that the tax upon them was too great, and a proposal was recorded that it is thought will be the means of making the work much lighter on future occasions.
