Melboubne, December 12. There was the usual large attendance of buyers at the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company’s weekly sa'e. Competition is on the increase, and the market generally is firmer. For crossbred wools there was a very active demand, and a brisk demand was experienced for all fine and good conditioned wools. The highest price obtained was n Jd for 68 bales first and second combing from the western District of Victoria, while 14 bales of crossbreds from the same district realised nd ; greasy merino so'd up to io|d. No representative parcels of scoured and fleece woolor washed fleece were offeied. The market for these descriptions is without change.
