WAIBAIIAPA JOCKEY JLUIi. A meeting of the Stewards’ of the Watrarapa Jockey Club was held at Hatnmerich's Hotel on Saturday afternoon, win n aftct the usual routine business was gene through, it was resolved that the Autumn or rather the Summer Meeting be held on the new Bncecouisc, Moroa, on Friday and Saturday 29th and 30th January, 1880, thus commg between the two Wellington Meetings, that at Island Bay being held on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Wairarapa J.C. Meeting, and the Wellington Racing Club Meeting on the Friday and Saturday following. The dates of nomination, acceptance, and general entries have been fixed to suit the majority of owners who may at that time be expected in Wellington, so that the principal meeting of the district is likely to be made more than usually attractive by the presence of many good horses not likely to visit Wairarapa if the Autumn Meeting were hold late in February as usual.

The following is the programme decided upon : First Day—Handle ip Hurdle Race, L 75, second horse Llo—2 miles. Hack Hurdle Race Ll2, weight not less than lOst. District Produce, L 125, for three year olds, closed, li miles. Selling Race, LSO, 1 mile. Wnirarupa Cup Handicap, LL7O, 2 milt s. Lady’s bracelet, L3O, amateur riders, to bo approved by the Stewards ; 3yrs, list, lyrs, lOst, oyrs, lOst 41b, six and aged LOst 71b. Hack Race, Ll2, weight not less than list, 1 mile. Second Day—Handicap Hurdle Race, LSO, U miles. Handicap Hack Hurdle Race, Ll2. Champagne Stakes, Ll6O, For 2yr olds, J mile, closed. Waitaraps Jockey Club Handicap, KDeovs, second, lOsovs ; li miles. Wairarapa Sires Produce Stakes, 47sovs added to a sweep of 3sovs, closed with 17 nominations. Grand Stand Handicap, SOsovs, 1 mile. Hack Race, Ll2, weight not lee* than sis stone. The total amount for both days being £BB6 against £767 last season, The Stewards afterwards visited the course and made arrangements for the necessary work to bo done.
