An Unsuccessful Meat Freezing Company.
Bleshkiu, September 30. The Marlborough Meat Freezing Company's annual meeting of shareholders took place to-day. i'ne rc|>ort and balance sheet show a deficiency of £157 on this year’s operations. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report, said that it was the intention of the directors to resume direct shipments from Pioton on the first favorable opportunity. The report and balance sheet wore adopted, after adverse chticism. The shareholders declined to re-elect the two retiring directors, but as no others were nominated, the Chairman declared them reelected without putting the motion to the meeting, and ruled that no others could be nominated, legal notice not having been given. The shareholders then proposed a resolution in favor of winding up, but the Chairman refused to accept it, as no special business could be taken at an ordinary general meeting. A vote of thanks to the directors was proposed, but found no seconder until the solicitor to the Company seconded it The motion was then declared! carried, two voices only being heard in its favor. The Company’s loss on shipments per Lady Jocelyn and Lyttelton was and private shippers in some cases lost heuyilj.
