Greytown Horticultural Society.

The annual meeting of the Greytown Horticultural Society was held on Saturday evening. Mr W. C. Nation in the chair. The minutes of last annual meeting were confirmed and the balance sheet adopted The following officers for the ensuing year were elected President, Mr W.' C. Buchanan, M.H.R.; Vioe-Presiden 8 Mr Coleman Phillips and Mr H. H. Jackson ; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. L. Webster ; Committee—Messrs Wood, Porritt, Nation, Bey, Higgins, Barrett, G. Bollard, Hiilier, T, Kempton, Juu., F. F. Maxton, St George, Skeet, and Revs Ward and Western. The next show was fixed for Thursday, ICth December, and Messrs Barratt, Nation and Porritt were appointed a sub-committee to prepare prize schedule. The financial state of the Society was considered and as there was a debt the Chairman suggested that a concert consistingof English, Irish and Scotch songs of days long gone by should be worked up. He believed a very enjoyable evening could be spent in listening to the old favorite air* and there would be a ready response by our several vocalists. Well worked up it would bring such a house together as would lilt the Society clean out of debt. The suggestion was, after some discussion, put in the form of a motion, with the addition it at the South Wairarapa Dramatic Company, lately formed, be asked to give a farce at the close. This was seconded by Mr Higgins and carried. The date of the concert was fixed for 22nd of October, Mr Porritt aiked whether it would be possible to hold a show of poultry in connection with the Spring Show, but it was considered that it wa« the wrong time el the year for such a purpose.
