Greytown Borough Council Election.
The polling for the election of three members for the Greytown Borough Council took place yesterday at the Council Chambers. There was unusual interest taken in the proceedings. The following is the result Varnham .. .. ..67 Humphries.. .. ..57 Cotter .. .. ..50 Hornblow .. .. .. 32 Collier .. . • .. 2H The three first were therefore elected. After the declaration of "the poll Mr yarnham thanked the electors for planing him at the head of the poll, and promised to do his best for the Borough generally. Mr Humphries also returned thanks and promised to endeavour to merit the confidence reposed in him. Mr Cotter also suitably returned thanks and assured the ratepayers that he would do his uttermost for their interests in general. Mr Hornblow, Jin proposing a vote of thanks to the Returning Officer, thanked those electors who had, unsolicited, voted forhim, and promised, after such encouragement, “to again come forward at a future time. Mr O’Connor, sen, seconded the vote of thanks to Mr Webster and the proceedings terminated.
