Pure-bred Shorthorns.

Mr Duncan McMaster, of the Lower Valley, whose enterprise and energy in cattle Or reding is so widely lit own, has jast returned from a visit to Melbourne, and has carefully selected from two of the most celebrated herds in Victoria, three splendid young shorthorn bulls. These magnificent young cuttle have since been inspected by some very competent judges, and have been pronounced by them to be the beet of the class yet imported to the Warrnrapa, and quite models of perfection, A even ns yearlings. Two of these prime beasts r have been culled from the celebrated Gknroy Herd of first class ''Bates" shot thorns imported and bred by Mr 'William McCulloch of Gleuroy. Melbourne and Mertoun Park, Colao. The third bull, a deep red (20 month* old) comes from the Brunswick herd of shorthorn stud bulls bred by Mr Samuel Gardiner, of Bundoora Park, Buudoora, ten miles from Melbourne on the Van Yean road. Charge; 12, dby Paddock Bull, 477, J. Brown. The Countess family arc very good animals, and were originally obtained from Mr F. Lanchester, an old breeder of Groat Smeaton, Northallerton, North Biding of Yorkshire. The sires used in the foundation of the pedigree were from the herds of such well known breeders as Colonel Trotter, Messrs Charge and J. Brown. Beau of Oxford 2nd was by Oxford Beau 29485, dam Third Belle of Oxford by Marmaduke 14897, gd Second Bello of Oxford by Duke of Glo’ster 11382 (illustrated Vol x., p. 58, Coates’ Herd Book), sold to Messrs Beccar and Morris, United States, Ax. A daughter and grand daughter of Third Belle of Oxford, sold ; at (the Wicken Park Sale in 1878, for £906 each. No. 2 bull is Miustrel Duke 2nd, dark roan, calved August 9, 1884 (12 months), sire Grand Duke of Minstrel 10th, light roan, calved June 15, 1877 ; bred by Mr Bowly.
