A man named George Ruck, in the employ of Mr Cooper, at Cooper’s Station, over towards the Coast, is' reported as being lost in crossing the IVamuioru, near Bank View, (Mr Venuoll’s place). It appears that tba unfortunate man, on Sunday last, proceeded to Carterton to obtain medicine from Dr Smith for Mr Cooper, who is said to be dangerously ill, and returned on Monday morning, reaching Mr Sexton’s place about 10 a.ir., and leaving soon after for home. Not having returned when expected a search was initiated, and the horse was found on Tuesday morning without a bridle. The bridle was also found, and it was supposed that the breaking of the bridle is the cause of the accident. Some men were out all day yesterday, searching lor the body, but up to the present time no tidings have been received of its recovery. The missing man ia said to have been laden with about eight bottles of medicine ; he is also said to have been well experienced in the knowledge of the river.
