This horse was bred by Mr Tancred, his present owner, who also owns his sire and dam. As a two-year-old Administrator commenced by running unplaced in the Sapling Stakes at Turatahi Carterton won by Eomp with I-irst Vv ati-r eicond, and Bamboo third.

Encouraged by these promising performances, Mr Tancred sent the colt to the Wellington Spring meeting to measure strides with rather better company than lie bad encountered at home. The experiment resulted successfully, for Administrator put up 7st ulb, and ran a dead heat with Sir George (Sst 111b) in the Eailway Handicap, and later on won the Flying Handicap right out. carrying Sst lib, and beating Treasurer post 11b), The Poet (Sat 101b), and two others, and running the sis furlongs in Imiu 20scc.“At Mastcrtou-Opaki he started with Übl in theOpuki Stakes, hut Mr Tancred declared to wu with First Water, and the roan was therefore unplaced. A fortnight later these reverses were amply made up for at the M airarapa meeting. Administrator here won the Tauhereuik.au Stakes (Sst Ulb) from Glaicks (Tst), Ninette (Sst Ulb), and four others ; and the Cup (Sst 71b up,) in which he beat Ninette, (Sst 101b), First Water (Sst), and the field (Sst 91b), running the two miles in Bmin -ITseo. Clifford rode him in these three events. At Wanganui Administrator put up fist 101b and finished second to the Poet Tst 12) in the Cup, beating Normanby (Tst lib) and seven others ; and followed this up by pulling off the Consolation Stakes (Tst 101b), in which race he was ridden by Derritt. At Taranaki he carried Tst filb in the J. C. Handicap, and finished ft length astern of Normanby (Tst 31b) ; but on the second day won the Autumn Handicap, carrying Tst 101b, and doing the mile and a half in 2miu -13.1.5 sec. Voyaging as far north as Auckland for the Easter meeting, Administrator put up Tst 51b and ran a dead heat with Uidamt-s (fist) in the Erste. As a five year-old Administrator began at tue Hawke s Bay Spring meeting by running unplaced in the Flying Handicap, carrying fist nib, and also unplaced in the Spring Handicap, -Sst up. lie, however, won the Consolation, carrying Bst 71b. At Wairarapa lie Wi,u the Birthday Cup (Dst 21b), and ran -s-rcmd with list 71b up to Pasha (7st 71b) in tne Spring Handicap. At the Wellington Jockey Club s Spring meeting Mr Tancted’a horse started with Set 71b in the J. C. Handicap and finished absolutely last, the race being won by Black Bose (7st 101b).
