A FEW FACTS. THE WAIRARAPA STANDARD Is the oldest established country paper in the Province of Wellington, having been in existence ovkb Sixteen Years. It is the agricultural journal of the Wairarapa, and has a wide circulation on the stations and farms throughout the whole district. It has a larger circulation in the Wairarapa West County than all the other papers put together; as provinu this assertion it may be here stated that the proprietor of the “ Standard ’’ some time ago, offered to stake the sum of Fifty Pounds iu the hands of a responsible person if a daily contemporary would deposit a similar sum, to be forfeited by whatever party failed to make out his allegation on this cii eolation question. This challenge was not taken up. We can therefore say with confidence that the “ Standard ” offers the best inducement to advertisers. This paper is the General Government and County Gazette, and publishes the official notifications of the Local Boards It is A PENNY PAPER, published every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon, and despatched from Greytowu by train and horses to the townships of Foatherston, Carterton, Masterton, and other places. A iburloen-colunm supplement, full of entertaining and instructive matter is issued every Friday. The “ Standard " is the only paper in the Wairarapa which issues a weekly supplement. This, combined with its outspoken tone on all matters, lias made the “Standard" the favorite paper in the homos oflho settlers.
