It must be bcinu iu mind, howaver, that the tendency to shear in the grease has been gradually increasing of hue years, and the clip of 1833-1 contained perhaps a larger proportion of greasy wool than any previous clip in the history "of the trade, so that although the average value per bale of our staple appears to have fallen very low, the value per lb is still considerably above the lowest point yet reached. What the average per bale will be for 1885 when its record is complete, it is hard to say; but on the basis ot present prices it will bo even lower than that of 1880.
