Sudden Death of Mrs Wm. Mitchell.

It is with exceeding regret tm.t we have to record the sudaen death of Mrs William Mitchell cf Morrison’s Bun. which < ccurr*--d about 10 30 on Friday morning lasi The deceased lady was engaged at her crdim.ij daily round of daiiy dudes when -he w.usuddenly seized with what ,:t d’-t .v.-s thought a fainting rt, but which vr-'Vnl u be her last and earthly sleep. Ht-r little eon, who was with her at the time of the sad cccunence, ran ont and informed his brothers, one i wh in immed’ateiv rode f.vr Dr Bey, who very quickly was in attendance, almost as quickly indeed as the many neighbors who fl. ckVd into in c house to -re whether they could Le of any fervicc. Dr Bey immediately s.w that life was extinct, and that nothing con'd he done. Another cf those sudden cases of death, aiising from lame disease of the heart, which occasionally startles our qu : tt community, and reminds each one of us that we i oi l our lives by a thread. Mr Mitchell, who. unfortunately, happened to be in Wellington, was immediately telegraphed for. There is but one and a general verdict from tire whole country side regarding poor Mrs 'Mitchell, and that is, that she was " a good woman." We can write no higher not better words than these She was indeed both good and true to her duties cn earth. Better, perhaps, for her husband children now, had she been leas industrious. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon. There was no necessity for an inquest, ss Dr Bey had certified to the cause of death, and Mrs Mitchell had often complained to her neighbors of symptoms of illness which have terminated so unfoi innately and suddenly. One wish of the deceased has, at least, been gratified—a quick death, without much pain or sickness. That poor Mrs Mitchell had always wished for, and God has granted her wishes. It is needles* to say that her funeral was wed attended, because everyone e i cctei her. The funeral cortege, was one of the largest ever seen in the Wairarapa. It consisted of 47 vehicles of all sizes, 10*3 equestrians (ladies and gentlemen), about 400 persons in all. The Rev Mr Western conducted the service and a* the mourners turned away from the grave, tnsro was but one comment—that there lay the last of a heroic woman.
