The Weather in Victoria.

Speaking of agricultural aflairs in ictoria, the Leader save :—The weather continues unusually changeable, some days being extremely hot, as high as 100 degrees of heat having been registered in some parts of the Colony, while other days have been cool, though pleasant. Since Jan 6, when the storm caused some damage and put a stop to work for the time, nothing has occurred to prevent harvesting operations being carried on. The high temperature has hastened the ripening, and harvest is in full swing throughout the Colony. Accounts of the yield vary greatly, but in verv few cases are the crops proving above the average ; a good many are said to be about an average (three to five bags

an acre are occasionally lu-.rvil (>f) ; but taking into account the ii.K-nor yields and the failures which anrarely reported, there is no reason to suppose that the average will exceed our estimate of nine and three-quarter bushels per acre. In consequence of the lowness of the price of wheat there is not likely to be much increase in the area devoted to that cereal, some farmers already declaring their intention to sow a small area next year.
