Election of School Committees.

KAITARA. There was a very large attendance of householders of the Kaitara school district at the schoolroom on Monday night. Mr W. S. Wakeliu was voted to the chair. Too mooting incidentally discussed the dangerous stale in which the gravel pit had been IctT ami strongly censured the wardens for ili.ir culpable negligence. Tuo Chairman explained the method of voting under the Act and after an animated discussion it was agreed that candidates should not vmo for themselves, A considerable nuniKr of candidates were proposed. A ba’lot then took [dace aud resulted in the following gentlemen being elected as the new committee ; —Messrs Keys, Barton, Kobeiisou, M’Dougali, Matthews, Donald, and Bunny. After a veto of thanks to the Chairman and the retiring committee the meeting terminated.

Gil B YT OWN. A special committee meeting was held before the annual meeting when Messrs Gray (Chairmau), Nation, W r ood, Cotter and Trotter were present. A report and balance sheet for submission to the annual meeting was adopted. Mr Cotter reported concerning the pieuio, but as all the accounts were not iu the matter was left in abeyance. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Gray for the able manner iu which he had discharged the duties of Chairman and Secretary during the past year. A similar vote was accorded to Mr Wyett for auditing the accounts.

About 40 persons were present at the

A smaT account had been owing by the cadets, but it was probable that Mr I’onitt would have to pay it oat of his own pocket. Ho expressed a hope that as parents had rot been asked tor anything during the year save for the annual picnic they would remember the cadets. The election of a fresh committee was then proceeded with. Messrs Wood, Nation, Gray, and Muir, members of the outgoing committee, declined to bo again nominated. Messrs Webster audLoatby were appointed scrutineers.

Mr Webster proposed a voto of thanks to the retiring committee for the way in which they had looked after the interests of the school and foe tho satisfactory report and balance sheet presented. Mr D. P. Player seconded the motion, which was carrod. Mr Gray returned thanks on behalf of the committee. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting. A subscription for the cadets was made in tho room, on the suggestion of Mr Haigli.
