A meeuno of the Board waa held.on March 23fd..'Present- Messrs Vallanoe (Chairman) Bennett, Dorset, Buchanan, and Butberfurd. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following letters were also read: — One from the Clerk of the Castle Point Board, enquiring if Mr Snowdon had been engaged by the Board to layoff aline of road -from Alfredto to join the Castle-point-Tirau-mea line on Tiranmea river.

One from D. Donald wishing to know what resolution the Board had passed regarding Mr Meredith’s protest re the line of road laid off to Uriti.

One from the Chairman of the Wairarapa East Council, stating that it waa of the utmost importance that the Mangapaketaa road should be proceeeded with at once, so as not to run the risk of losing the £3,060 voted for it, and suggesting that the Board should appoint Mr King, their Engineer, at a fair salary, and that immediately on being appointed he should at once lay off the line, which would be paid for by the County Council at a certain sum per mile sufficient to recoup the Board.

One from Mr £. Meredith, as to certain repairs required in 6 Ward. One from Mr Griffin, stating that he would wait on the Board relative to the line of road through his property. One from the Secretary to the Treasury, stating that the sum of £69614s 4d had been paid into the bank to the credit of tbe Board.

The Chairman appointed Messrs Alpass, Smith, and Wilsoue presiding officers to conduct the election of Wardens for the several Wards of the district.

That two or more of the members of the Board inspect the proposed line of road throuSh Mr Griffin’s property at Upper Manaia on Saturday the 90th inst., at 2 pun. and that the Clerk give notice to Mr Woodroffe to attend.
