RIFLE SHOOTING
FOURTEEN TEAMS COMPETE. A most interesting day's shooting took place at the Otorohanga butts during last, week-end, teams being present from all round the district. Shooting conditions were good, for though there was a slight wind the sky was dull, thus freeing the contestants from glare. Fourteen teams competed in the Knock-out Competition, at a 200 yards range. Te Kuiti Rifle Club beat Te Awamutu Territorials 6 —5, Waitomo Territorials beat Otorohanga Territorials B 7 —5, Honikiwi Territorials beat Hunt. Bros. 5 —2, Te Kuiti Volunteers A beat Otorohanga Rifle Club A 12—6, Otorohanga Rifle Club B beat Te Awamutu R.S.A. A 6--2, Otorohanga Territorials A lost to Te Kuiti Volunteers B o—s, Te Awamutu R.S.A. B beat Otorohanga F.A.C. 7—5.
In the second round Waitomo Volunteers beat Te Kuiti Rifle Club 7—5, Te Kuiti Volunteers A beat Honikiwi Territorials 9—7, Otorohanga Rifle Club beat Te Kuiti Volunteers B 7—5, and Te Awamutu R.S.A. B beat Otoro hanga R.S.A. 4—3. Third round: Te Kuiti Volunteers A beat Waitomo Territorials B—3, and Otorohanga Rifle Club beat Te Awamutu R.S.A. B 6—l. In the final round Te Kuiti beat Otorohanga B—s.8 —5. A second shoot, restricted to losers in the first competition, saw Otorohanga Territorials beat Te Awamutu Territorials 6—4, Hunt Bros, beat Otorohanga Rifle Club A 5—4 after a tie 5 all; Te Awamutu R.S.A. beat Otorohanga Territorials 3—o, and Otorohanga R.S.A. beat Otorohanga F.A.C. 6—5. In the semi-final Otorohanga Territorials beat Hunt Bros. 5—4, and Te Awamutu R.S.A. beat Otorohanga R.S.A. 4—3. The final was won by Otorohanga Territorials who beat Te Awamutu R.S.A. 7—4.
