“You had no fight here last election, huit I promise you a Labour man next election—and that will be before next November, if I am' any judge,” said Mr A. S. Richards, M.P. for Rcjskill, in an address at Te Kuiti on Monday evening. “ You do not know how close we were to being in power last election. Take the total vote for Reform, Coalition and Independent, ajid places like where there was no fight at all, take every vote opposed to Labour, and!' you Will find they were only 59,036 moi’e than we secured. I think that if the election bells had' been ringing last month as they should have been, Labour would have swept New Zealand from the North Cape to the Bluff.”
