STOCK SALE AT FRANKTON

At Frankton on Tuesday the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company had a medium yarding of both fat wethers and fat ewes. Competition was keen throughout and a sharp advance in prices occurred. Fat lambs came forward in larger numbers than at last sale, and although competition was not so keen schedule rates were maintained. An average yarding of ox beef came forward, and good quality firmed slightly, but there was no alteration in second quality. Cow and heifer beef came forward again in heavy numbers, with a good proportion of the yarding prime cattle. There was no alteration in values, while second-quality cows and boners sold at equal to schedule rates. The advertised store cattle on account of Dr Gribben, sold in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, attracted a good attendance of outside buyers, and sold under good competition. A small yarding of fat pigs comprised mostly unfinished sorts. All baconers were keenly sought, and sold right up to last week's values, but porkers were slightly easier. An average entry of stores and weaners were firm at late quotations, easing slightly towards the conclusion of the sale.
