A great deal of inconvenience was caused to passengers on several trains on the Main Trunk rai'way, owing to an accident which occurred between Ohaupo and Te Awamutu on Tuesday evening. The axle of a waggon on a southbound goods train snapped about 4 p.m., just after the train had left Ngaroto. The sleepers of the track were damaged for nearly a mile and a-half before the train was stopped, about ha'f a mile north of the Te Awamutu station. The assistance of railway workmen was obtained, and the damaged waggon was jacked to one side of the track. When the train was reconnected, it was pulled into a siding at Te Awamutu. Attention was then concentrated on repairing the track and replacing many sleepers which were damaged.
