WANDERING PIGS
OWNERS TO BE PROSECUTED. Pigs wandering on i-oads was referred to at Wednesday's meeting of the Waipa County Council, the clerk stating that complaints had been made respecting pigs belonging to farmers at Pokuru, Parawera, Korakonui, Pirongia Road, and Puahue, the Highways Board inspector having dijawn attention to the damage done on roadsides. A councillor said there was also the likelihood of damage to motorists. It was remarked that during the winter months seme settlers adopted the practice of allowing pig-s to gander along the roadsides to obtain sustenance. Other neighbours haveto provide better fencing to keep the pigs off their properties. It was decided to publicly notify that proceedings will be taken against owners of any pigs found wandering on country roads.
