OBITUARY

MR WM. CLEMENT CARGILL

MORRINSVILLE, ihis day,

The death occurred this morning of Mr W. C Cargill, of the Cargill Publishing Company, Ltd., proprietors of the Morrinsville Star, Pultaruru Press and Matainata Record.

iMr Cargill had been in indifferent health for a fortnight, and on Thursday W?.s removed to Auckland for treatment. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital where he died suddenly this morning.

Burrows, at the age of 41 years. Deceased had been a resident in the district for most of his life, and engaged, in farming-operations until he met' with a severe injury about three years ago, which necessitated his entering the Waikato Hospital. Complications developed, and at one time it was thought probable a leg would have to be amputated. However, this was avoided, though it was apparent that Mr Burrows was failing steadily, and his death was not unexpected. The funeral takes place to-day, interment being at the Te Awamutu Cemetery.

■ MRS ANNE AUBIN. After a residence in New Zealand of _ne'arly seventy . years, the death has'oecuirred in Auckland of Mrs Anne Elizabeth Dolbel Aubin, widow of.-the-.late- Mr John Aubin, one of the earliest' settlers in the Pirongia district. . Mrs Aubin, who was born on the island of Jersey ninety-two years ago, was educated in France and came out to New Zealand to marry Mr Aubin, who had previously come from, the Channel IsU.nds. The wedding was the first to be celebrated in the Anglican Church at Ngaruaw'ahia. Mrs and Mrs Aubin settled at Pirongia (Alexandra it then was), .where Mr Aubin established himself as a chamist and storekeeper. Both Mr and Mrs Aulbin quickly won the esteem of all with whom they came in contact, and Mrs Aubin's ability as a musician attracted kindred spirits, social evenings in the Aubin home beng noted far and wide as exceptionally attractive. Mrs . Aubin for very many years interested herself in Church, musical aiid social matters, and was held in the very highest regard. Her Church work will long be rememjbered, arid her example was followed with such enthusiasm that Anglican activities in and around Pirongia survived periods of stress at different periods. . For the past two years she has'resided with her son Dr Aubin, at. Pamell, Auckland, but kept in touch with her family and friends in this district, Another son is Mr Eugene Aubin, of Kawhia, and three' "surviving daughters ars Mrs Ramsay, Hillerest,. Hamilton, Mrs W. H. Bell, Pirongia, and Miss R. Aubin, Auckland.' There are also twenty-one grandchildren and nine great-grand-children. The . funeral takes place this afternoon interment, being at the Pirongia Cemetery.
