WAIPA RUGBY UNION
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Mr G. W. Mail’s presided at the weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening. After a discussion on the Ballistite Cup competition, it was decided that the draw for Saturday next be Te Awamutu v. Pirongia in this competition, while Rovers and Waikeria will play in the Insurance Cup competition. A charge day was arranged for, each adult to pay sixpence, and the proceeds be devoted to augmenting the insurance fund.
The chairman reported that J. Turney, who had been suspended at the previous meeting, had appeared before the emergency committee, and his explanation was accepted. N. Jackson had not appeared.—Action approved.
The referee in the Te Awamutu v. Arohena match reported having ordered an Arohena player off the field for continually questioning his decisions.—The player concerned will be asked for an explanation of his conduct, meantime he is suspended from play. Cambridge Union forwarded a cheque and balance-sheet in connection with the recent Peace Cup game at Cambridge.—Received. Accounts totalling £9 7s were presented and passed for payment. Parnell (Auckland) Club offered to send its B senior team (unbeaten in the grade this season) to Te Awamutu on September 9th.—After consideration it was decided that owing to Waipa Union having a full list of engagement it is unable to accept the offer. Mr Mairs reported that the emergency committee had arranged details for a junior rep. fixture to-mor-row afternoon with Waikeria Club’s second fifteen. The match would be a curtain-raiser to the Cambridge v. Waipa senior rep. game.—Approved. The secretary was instructed to write to the Waikato Union asking for a definition of the Waipa Union’s northern boundary., Mr Mairs was appointed manager of the local senior rep. team to-morrow, and Mr G. Reynolds will supervise the junioi’s. Mr W. McCready was appointed referee of the junior game to-morrow afternoon.
Leamington Club (Cambridge Union) lodged a challenge for the Binnie Cup.—The challenge was accepted, but no date for the contest was arranged. The secretary was instructed to write to the Hamilton Union re that body’s offer to send its fourth grade reps to Te AWamutri to play the Waipa third grade reps on August 13th, suggesting that the arranged for August 20th, if possible, i
