INTOXICATED DRIVER
VEHICLE FALLS OVER BANK. (By Tekfrauh. Press Association.) HAMILTON Wednesday. A plea of guilty was entered by Alexander James Parscl! in the4iamilton Police Court to-day to a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor lorry. Senior-Sergeant Sweeney said that defendant was a painter and paperhanger and lived at Matamata. He went round the country doing jobbingwork. On May 2he came into Hamilton and bought 18 bottles of stout. He and two companions consumed a considerable quantity of liquor. Defendant became intoxicated and in the evening he drove away in his lorry. He went over a bank near the Waikato Hospital, and hired a taxi to take him to Matamata. He was a poor man and had 10 children. Counsel produced references stating that defendant was regai'ded as a man of sober habits. The magistrate said he wanted a report on Parsell's position. ?< Defendant was remanded for sentence until June 1.
