BOY SCOUTS

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Mr A. H. Roberts presided at a meeting of the executive of the local Boy Scouts organisation on Tuesday evening, and also present were Mesdames E. Warner and A. J. Shepherd, Miss Mairs, and Messrs G. Fryce, H. C. Rainey, H. E. Philip, F. W. Bevin, W. K. Davis and A. F. Brewer (secretary). Mr Pryce reported that Scouts could be granted their gardeners' badge subject to the Scoutmaster's approval. * The Scoutmaster reported that no definite transport arrangements could be made by Mr Marx in connection with the p: oject for enabling Pirongia district boys to attend Te Awamutu parades. Messrs Roberts, Pryce and Philip offered to provide accommodation for those boys" on Friday nights if that would assist them to attend meeting's- , . , . The examiners are to be asiced to stiffen up the badge tests. The Scoutmaster's report for the period ended May 24th was considered and approved. It showed that attendances averaged 33 over the period. Appreciation was expressed of the action of Mr and Mrs G. W. Mairs in arranging ior the third birthday party of the Cub Pack. Arrangements have been put in hand for a Scouts' birthday party, to be held at an early date. The boys themselves have arranged an attractive programme for the occasion, and the party will probablv eventuate- on June 10 th'. The secretary gave a short but interesting account of the recent trip to Chateau Tongariro and of the mountain climbing by the party.
