THIRTY YEARS' SERVICE
OIL EXECUTIVE HONOURED. Mr Hugh Hamilton, deputy chairman of the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd., of Melbourne, has been presented with the company's gold thirty years service emblem. The presentation was made by Mr H. C Cornforth, chairman and managing director, at a gathering of directors and staff executives, including a number of long-service officers. Mr Hamilton has been a director of the company since 1915, and has taken a big part in the company's affairs, including the construction programme if the company throughout Australia and New Zealand, when manufacturing plants were built and main seaboard bulk installations and hundreds of country installations were established in connection with the bulk distribution of the company's products. The start of Mr Hamilton's career was in Queensland, where he joined the staff as a junior clerk in 1902. In 1903 he was transferred to Wellington, and in 1906 was appointed manager for the company in New Zealand, which position he occupied for seven years prior to his going to Melbourne as assistant to the managing director. Mr Hamilton is well known in oil company circles all over Australia and New Zealand, and has a remarkable grasp of the multitudinous affairs involved in the oil industry. He has received a great number of congratulatory cables, telegrams, and letters on the completion of his thirty years' service with the company.
