That there are signs of a trade revival in Britain is proved by the following practical facts:—■ The London Midland and Scottish Railway Company announce that information has been received regarding several oversea firms who are establishing works or factories in Britain. A German firm have taken premises with a Birmingham trading company for the manufacture of component parts of pedal cycles. A German firm who manufacture lawn mowers have acquired premises in Handsworth. A German firm of hosiery manufacturers have secured premises at Hinckley. A Dutch firm have taken space in an L.M.S. warehouse at Darwen. They trade in mineral earth or power for paint manufacture. Another Dutch firm have taken a factory at Ilkeston, Derbyshire, and hope to open soon for the manufacture of bedspreads, aprons, etc. A Saxony firm, who have acquired premises at Long Eaton, Derbyshire, are importers of undyed hosiery, which is sent to Leicester and Nottingham to be dyed. A Chicago firm have purchased works at Warns o' the Height, Manchester, for the manufacture of canned goods, principally dog-food. A Belgian firm have acquired a large factory at Watford for the manufacture of chocolates. At the same time reports have been received by the L.M.S. Railway of important extensions to works and premises either contemplated or actually in progress by British firms: — A textile manufacturer is erecting a factory at Ulverton. A Darlaston firm have made arrangements for a £IO,OOO extension to their bolts and nuts works. The Monmore Green Rolling Mills have purchased land adjoining their works, and hope to have additional rolling mills in operation within two or three months. A London firm have purchased paper mills at Bury and intend to commence work shortly.
