It as a case of the pupil showing his master last nip-lit when Ted Oxley, of Pahiatua, 9.75, completely overshadowed his former mentor, Jack Crowley, of Wellington, 9.6/ in a professional boxing bout of ten rounds. There was a packed audience. Oxley broke a bone in his left hand at the start of the second round, and relied k thereafter on his right hand, which put Crowley down in the fourth. From then on Crowley was sent to the canvas no fewer than six times until the ninth round. Only his gameness and fighting instinct kept him on his feet and kept the referee quiet. Crowley at last cried enough and collapsed in a corner . with exhaustion. Oxley gained a technical knock-out in the J H ninth. His was an impressive r formance under the circumstances; '
