The decision of the Te Awamutu Jersey Club to hold an auction sale of pedigree female stock next month has its echo in the Matamata district where the Jersey Club has also decided to hold a sale of pedigree cows and heifers, some time in July. At a meeting this week, at Tirau, the position was discussed, and some members pointed out that outside breeders could join up with a district club, simply to qualify for the right to enter stock for the sales, and then swamp them with entries. This had been done at Hamilton sales by Taranaki breeders. Sales should be confined to stock owned by district breeders. Notice of motion was given to confine membership of the club to farmers within a radius of twenty miles of headquarters.
