The condition of 'Mr Frederick Shearsby, of Otorohanga, who has recently undergone several operations at the Waikato Hospital, for an internal complaint, is causing his relai tives and friends some anxiety. Mr G. H. Boles has made a splendid, recovery at the hospital after a series of operations for a long-stand-ing complaint. . Messrs E. Cumpstone (Kio Kio), J. Richmond (Honikiwi), and A. J. McCready (Otorohanga), fishing at the mouth of the Turangi-Taupo River, during several days of last week secured 153 rainbow trout. The heaviest fish landed scaled 931 b., while the average weight was 3 l-81b. Pishing the upper reaches of the Maukururua River, Honikiwi, during the week-end Messrs R. P. Park and A. E. Nicholson secured a splendid catch, the average weight of which was 3£lb. Murray Pratt, of Otorohanga, again proved his prowess at the Hamilton Gun Club's shoot last Saturday. In four sweeps of nine birds, Pratt shot , the possible off 28yds, dividing with other competitors each time, and in .another he was runner-up. Pratt twill again be in action next weekend at the Auckland championships. The local Harrier's Club will shortly compete in a five-mile cross-country relay match at Otorohanga with a team from Te Kuiti. On Saturday, Honikiwi crilket team player High School, a fine matih resulted in a drawn game. High School made 309 (Pilkington (retired) 104, Hotson 47, Smith 37, A. Cockburn 24, and Clauson 21. Honikiwi scored 97 for 8 wickets, T. Hitchings 36, Tizard 15 and Verner (not out) 11. Town defeated Country, after a hard game, by two runs. Town made 52 (K. Cameron 23). Country replied with 50 (A. Finlay 10, Scown 15). Druids played Oddfellows, a good contest resulting in a win for Druids by 95 runs. Oddfellows compiled 108 (f ilkington 61, Holden 13, J. J. Walker 10). Druids replied with 9 wickets for 203 (Schultz (not out) 46, Trapski 32, Craig 31, Lawrence 20, Hyde 20, and Cockburn Jnot out) 19. Next Saturday's conclude the local the result cannot displace CJSuntry as the winning team of the season. A deputation, consisting of Messrs Crowley, O'Brien, Hewlett, Walters and Whibley, waited on Mr Broadf oot, M.P., at. Otorohanga yesterday in regards to having the Te Kawa-Manga-orongo Road metalled. After going ••'. fully into .the matter with the deputation, which represented the Mangaorohgo district settlers, Mr Broadfoot said he would interview the Minister and endeavour to obtain a special" subsidy. V. At the Otorohanga Tennis Club championships contests, Miss L. Quinlan won the junior championship, defeating Miss Dowd after a close game, the scores being 9—7, 6—B, 6—l. In the senior champion Mrs Trapski defeated Miss Leatham, 6—2, 6—3; Miss Scarborough defeated Mrs 'Miller, 6—4, 6-—4; and Miss Scarborough defeated Mrs Craig, 6—4, 6—4. The finalists are Mrs Trapski and Miss Scarborough, who will meet next Saturday. , /
