Referring to the dress of the new Territorial Force, shortly to be recruited on a voluntary basis, MajorGeneral Sinclair-Burgess stated that the men would be put into breeches. He would not tolerate a lot of miscoloured trousers that “made men look more like chameleons than soldiers.” If it came to active service he would give each man a new pair of trousers, as he appreciated the freedom at the knee which they afforded.
