NATIONAL CHEESE BRAND
CAUSE OF DISSATISFACTION. NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Instead of blaming the quality of New Zealand cheese as a reason for its unpopularity on the English market, Mr T. R. Andereson, of Mahoe, a director of the Mangatoki Dairy Company, struck a new note last evening when he attributed the falling off in popularity to the use of a national brand instead of individual brands. Mr Andereson said the English retailer might order a crate of "fern leaf" which suited his requirements andand he would repeat the order. The second crate might be entirely unsatisfactory for his purpose, and the retailer would refuse to take any more "fern leaf." In such manner one crate of poor cheese could have a detrimental effect on the reputation of all New Zealand cheese.
