A WONDER FLYING BOAT
A monster flying-boat—the most powerful in the world—is being built by a well-known British aviation company in the South of England (reports the Daily Chronicle). Is is a huge 50-seater craft, which will be used in testing the commercial prospects of all-red air lines, between England and the Dominions. The machine will have a cruising range of several hundreds of miles, which will enable it to make long non-stop flights without landing in foreign waters.
This new British monster is not quite as large as the huge German flying-boat, Dornier Do X, which will fly to the United States this summer, but it is understood that the British machine's estimated performance is far in advance of that of the German craft.
The 50 passengers will be carried in comfort similar to that found in luxury liners. Sleeping berths will be provided in the wings of the giant machine, while the fuselage will be equipped with dining saloons, lounges, and kitchens, where full-course meals willbe prepared. The craft has been designed from experience gained in the production of the SupermarineNapier flying-boats, which have made a number of successful long-distance flights with the Royal Air Force. It will have six special Rolls-Royce engines which will produce some 2000 horse power.
