NOT AUDITED
SOLICITOR'S TRUST ACCOUNT. (Bv Telegraph. Press Association.) HAMILTON, Friday. A Rotorua solicitor, Percy Herbert Basley, pleaded guilty in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day to a charge of failing to have his trust account audited. Mr H. T. Gillies, who prosecuted, said defendant had failed to submit a return for the year 1928-29. There had been a good deal of correspondence with the Audit Office and defendant had offered various reasons, including illness, for the delay. Counsel said he did not question the genuineness of the excuses. Although 15 months had elapsed defendant had still failed to submit an audit certificate concerning his trust account. Mr Gillies said that irrespective of the present proceedings defendant intended to give up his practice. The minimum penalty for the offence was £SO. Mr P. H. Watts said defendant had had poor health and had disposed of his practice. Defendant was fined £SO and ordered to pay costs and solicitor's fee, £3 3s. ________
