MISDIRECTED AID
FOOTBALLER WITH INJURY. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. The danger to injured footballers as the result of attention by inexperienced persons when medical aid is not available was illustrated at Inglewood yesterday during a third grade Rugby match between Inglewood and Stratford. Two Stratford players collided heavily while running for the ball and one of them, a youth named Reed, suffered serious injuries, his ribs being broken. Unfortunately those who went to help him diagnosed the injury as loss of wind and insisted en rubbing and pummelling him, in spite of his appeals to be left alone. Finally it was realised that his injuries were serious and he was taken to a doctor, who ordered his immediate removal to the Stratford Hospital by ambulance.
