A CHRISTMAS APPEAL.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —May I be permitted, through your columns, to make a Christmas appeal on behalf of the inmates of Tokanui Mental Hospital ? Our family there is large, and it takes an immense number of gifts to go round. Owing to the numerous demands made of late in Te Awamutu I feel constrained to take up the usual Christmas collection in the street, and take this means of asking sympathisers to leave gifts either with me at my husband’s boot shop or send them direct to the medical superintendent, Tokanui. Already several of our good friends have brought along offerings, and I know I have only to mention the fact for others to follow. We welcome any gift, great or small.. The Brownies will stage a concert in the Parish Hall on Thursday evening in aid of the fund, the charge of admission to be only a shilling, so we hope to see a bumper house for such a good cause. In conclusion, may I thank all those good friends who, during the past year, have brought to me books, pictorials, and other gifts for the benefit of the Tokanui patients ? It is needless to say how these kindly acts are appreciated by the recipients. —I am, etc., T. EDITH WOOD.
