SCHOOL BANNER

PRESENTED TO KAKEPUKU SCHOOL. . At the recent show at Te Awamutu Kakepuku school secured the banner awarded in the school ponies class, and it was decided at last meeting of the show executive that officials of the Association should attend at the school to make the presentation. This was done yesterday, when in the presence of 100 parents and scholars assembled at the school the banner was presented. Messrs J. T. Johnson (president), W. J. Melville and F. Ray (vice presidents), and J. G. Wynyard (secretary) represented the Association. Mr S. H. West, in his opening remarks, said it gave him great pleasure to state that this was the first occasion on which the banner had been won by a country school, and was worthy of commemoration. Consequently it had been decided to arrange for the banner to be presented at the school he was pleased to welcome the president, secretary and vice-presi-dents of the show committee. Mr J. T. Johnson, responding, said he was pleased to act as president of the A. f and P. Association at such a gathering. He congratulated the children on their very fine performance at the show and on the splendid type of horses they had entered. He regarded it a great honour for Kakepuku to have won the banner from the larger centres, and he sincerely hoped that the same good sportinj spirit displayed at the last show would help to retain the banner in the :2E?'
